Electrician / Maintenance Lead - Fort Rucker


MISSION:

JOB SUMMARY:

Under limited supervision, provides day-to-day leadership and technical direction for electrical maintenance personnel while performing testing, calibration, modification, installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of electrical and fire life safety infrastructure and facility support equipment. Monitors and maintains the safe operating condition of electrical systems and related equipment while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads teams, prioritizes, assigns, and coordinates daily staff activities.
  • Complies with National Electrical Code and company standards when wiring equipment, following all applicable safety policies and codes.
  • Performs standard electrical calculations related to wiring and load requirements.
  • Uses a variety of electricians power and hand tools, measuring and testing instruments.
  • Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
  • Installs, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots electrical systems, equipment, and appliances, such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, electric gate crossings, signals, switches, or other equipment.
  • Locates and diagnoses problems in the electrical system or equipment.
  • Records and reports inspections, repairs performed and equipment replaced.
  • Assists in monitoring and training of Electricians, General Maintenance Workers, and Maintenance Trades Helper; provides instruction and reviews completed projects.
  • Ensures contract safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Provides day-to-day work leadership for assigned personnel, including assigning work, providing technical guidance, mentoring employees, monitoring work quality, and promoting compliance with company policies and applicable safety standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Virginia Journeyman Electrician license required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Share Point.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required installation access credentials and security clearances for Fort Rucker, or other assigned government installations.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record that meets BAC MVR requirements.
  • Must possess an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry training card or have the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment from an OSHA authorized provider.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master Electrician license preferred.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to develop, read, understand, and interpret schematics and blueprints and to do standard computations;
  • Knowledge of NEC and electrical/wiring principles; building codes, local, state and federal regulations on electrical and fire life safety installation, repair, and maintenance;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to act responsively to customer inquiries and requests; and to escalate the more difficult matters appropriately;
  • Ability to manage workflow, material resources, changing priorities, multiple projects, deadlines, and accurately track time and assigned work.
  • Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance, to work independently and as a team, and to build effective working relationships.
  • Use of own tools may be required.
  • Ability to work safely and understand all safety requirements and company policy

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS:

  • OSHA 10-Hour General Industry.
  • Virginia Journeyman Electrician license required

TRAVEL:

No overnight or out-of-area travel is expected for this position. Local movement within various locations will be required to support inspections, meetings, incident response and contract operations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employees must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, for extended periods of time. Duties may include:

  • Using fine motor coordination, manual dexterity, and visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors for electrical wiring and components.
  • Walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials and equipment.
  • Climbing ladders and working at varying heights.
  • Working in confined spaces and around mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, or moving tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Performing repetitive physical tasks associated with electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.

These physical requirements may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed in both office and field environments. Office work is conducted in a climate-controlled setting with routine exposure to normal office noise. Field work is performed at customer sites, mechanical spaces, rooftops, utility areas, and other locations, requiring travel between work sites as assigned.

Employees are regularly exposed to varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, rain, wind, dust, dirt, fumes, noise, and other conditions associated with commercial and industrial maintenance operations. Work may involve exposure to energized electrical systems, hazardous equipment, confined or elevated work areas, and other job-related hazards.

Employees are required to wear and properly use all designated personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all applicable safety policies, OSHA regulations, and company procedures.

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Requires manual dexterity, visual acuity, color differentiation, concentration, and the ability to safely operate electrical testing equipment and hand tools.
