Operations Coordinator Specialist
This position is part of the Department of War Media Activity (DWA). The incumbent will be responsible for providing policy and procedures for DoW audiovisual and visual information activities and operations such as Combat Camera operations, and for newspapers and like print media throughout DoW such as the European and Pacific Stars and Stripes newspapers.
As a Operations Coordinator Specialist at the GS-0301-12 some of your typical work assignments may include: Plan, coordinate, and execute comprehensive operational plans, special events, and high-visibility ceremonies for a large military training institution of over 900 staff, faculty, and students. Serve as the primary Security Manager, administering personnel security clearance processes, physical access control, and badging systems to safeguard personnel, facilities, and information. Provide oversight and troubleshooting for the organization's travel and logistics operations, acting as a primary coordinator for the Defense Travel System (DTS) and Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) programs. Manage the routing and execution of incoming Requests for Information (RFIs) and higher-headquarters taskers, establishing deadlines and coordinating accurate responses across multiple directorates. Direct and monitor organizational compliance for critical security initiatives, including the Antiterrorism, Force Protection (AT/FP), and Insider Threat programs, to include coordinating annual emergency drills. Provide daily operational oversight, workload prioritization, and guidance to a team of administrative, logistics, and training support personnel to ensure seamless mission support.
Requirements
You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Planning and executing comprehensive operational plans, taskers, and high-visibility special events within a military, government, or large academic organization. Administering and overseeing organizational security programs, to include personnel security (e.g., clearance processing/continuous vetting), physical access control, and Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) compliance. Managing and troubleshooting complex organizational travel and logistics programs, specifically serving as a coordinator or administrator for the Defense Travel System (DTS) and the Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) programs. Providing direct oversight, guidance, or team leadership to administrative and operations support staff to ensure daily workflows, incoming information requests (RFIs), and mission-critical deadlines are met. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
