Speech/Language Pathologist (Early Intervention)

About the Position: Serve as a Speech/Language Pathologist (Early Intervention) with the United States Army Medical Department Activities, Directorate of Surgery, Department of Surgery, Audiology Service/Speech Pathology Service located Camp Walker, Republic of Korea. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation


  • Collaborate in an interdisciplinary team, including the parents, for the development of an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), ensuring the IFSP is completed in a timely manner and is reviewed/updated at least every six months.
  • Provide Early Intervention Services (EIS) to infants and toddlers and their families in natural environments, including the home, childcare center, or other community settings as identified on the IFSP.
  • Deliver intervention services consistent with credentials and licensure and program guidance and philosophy.
  • Ensure services specified in the IFSP are delivered in accordance with requirements and designed to meet the identified goals.
  • Coordinate services across agency lines for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families.
  • Inform families of their due process rights provided under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and applicable DoD regulations.
  • Provide families with the knowledge, skills, and support they require to meet and advocate for the needs and rights of their child in all settings.
  • Maintain all documentation of services and completes data entry in the government automated system for capturing data and documentation of services to children with special needs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Basic Requirements for Speech/Language Pathologist (Early Intervention): Education: Successful completion of a graduate or higher level degree that included 18 semester hours in the field of speech pathology with approved clinical practice. The education program must have been approved, recognized, or accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) at the time the degree was obtained. License: This position requires a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice Speech/Language Pathology in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part C guidelines to evaluate, accommodate, and treat infants and toddlers (birth to age three) presenting with developmental delays or disabilities; implementing early intervention therapy services within healthcare or community settings; utilizing adult coaching and learning principles to educate, support families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary clinical teams. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
